Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our team at the University of Maryland Medical System. As a key member of our financial operations team, you will be responsible for providing leadership and guidance to accounting support personnel, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of work activities in accordance with department policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and review month-end closing journal entries, financial statement packages, and management reports for Medical System entities and joint ventures.
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide leadership and guidance to accounting support personnel, ensuring accuracy and efficiency of work activities in accordance with department policies and procedures.
  • Financial Insights: Provide financial insights to leadership in review of the monthly income statement.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Health Services Cost Review Commission (HSCRC) methodology.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate with various Medical System departments regarding monthly accounting reports and other accounting-related documents/information.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years' experience in professional accounting or auditing work required.
  • Certification: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) preferred.
