Supervising Registered Nurse III Correctional Facility

Under the direction of the Chief Nurse Executive, the Supervising Registered Nurse III oversees the daily operations of a correctional facility nursing services program. The SRN III is responsible for planning, assigning, supervising, and evaluating the work of subordinate supervisors, nurses, and other assigned staff. The SRN III receives, disseminates, and implements policies and procedures, applies supervisory rules and principles, assists in the resolution of labor relations issues, sets goals for self and others, and ensures the continuity of quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of a correctional facility nursing services program
- Plan, assign, supervise, and evaluate the work of subordinate supervisors, nurses, and other assigned staff
- Receive, disseminate, and implement policies and procedures
- Apply supervisory rules and principles
- Assist in the resolution of labor relations issues
- Set goals for self and others
- Ensure the continuity of quality patient care
Either:
- One year of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse II, Correctional Facility
- Three years of experience in the California state service performing the duties of a Supervising Registered Nurse I, Correctional Facility
- Four years of registered nursing experience (within the last ten years) in a licensed general acute care hospital, two years of which must have been in an administrative or supervisory capacity
Candidates who are within six months of completing the experience requirements will be admitted to the examination, but they must complete all requirements before they will be considered eligible for appointment.

Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined an applicant does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.
Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
