Job Overview

The City of Avondale is seeking qualified candidates for the role of City Facilities Security Specialist. This full-time position is classified as FLSA non-exempt and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.

Compensation Details:

The hiring range starts at $26.76, with the salary range reflecting the full compensation potential for this role. The final salary offer will take into account various factors, including the candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and education.

Key Responsibilities:

- Ensure the safety and security of the City Hall complex and other municipal facilities.
- Enforce established rules and regulations while providing assistance and information to the public.
- Conduct regular patrols of city facilities, including City Hall, Library, City Court, and Police building, both on foot and in a patrol vehicle.
- Monitor video surveillance systems for all city properties.
- Report any emergencies or suspicious activities to the Police Department.
- Assist with customer service by directing citizens to appropriate city resources.
- Address and resolve customer service-related inquiries and complaints.
- Maintain communication with police resources via portable radio.
- Identify and report safety hazards and security concerns within city buildings.
- Investigate security-related complaints and respond to emergency situations.
- Provide security during City Council meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- At least one year of experience in a similar role, such as security officer, police officer, or detention officer.
- Familiarity with industrial security policies and electronic security systems.
- Proficient in communication through portable radios and capable of responding to emergencies.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Completion of DPS Terminal Operator Certificate (TOC) within six months of hire is required.
- Obtain Court Security Officer Certification within one year of hire.
- Must wear a ballistic vest and utility belt as part of the uniform.
- Ability to pass a certified Defensive Tactics Training Course.
- Skills in managing interactions with difficult individuals and identifying unsafe conditions.
- Valid Arizona driver's license or ability to obtain one at the time of hire.

- Proficient in basic math calculations and capable of preparing clear reports and documentation.
- Ability to implement emergency procedures and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Maintain regular attendance and work in a state of alertness and safety.
