Registered Behavior Support Specialist

Position Overview
The Behavioral Support Technician plays a crucial role in assisting students with behavioral and emotional challenges. Under the guidance of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), this position involves aiding in the development and execution of behavior modification strategies while systematically gathering and recording pertinent data.
This role is designed to support the educational framework within designated classrooms, focusing on individual and small group interactions, as well as providing administrative assistance to educators and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in classroom activities as directed by the BCBA.
- Oversee the implementation of behavior plans for students in need of behavioral and emotional support.
- Execute behavior interventions and aid in the application of behavior modification plans.
- Gather and analyze data regarding student progress on behavioral objectives outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and behavior plans.
- Engage in debriefing sessions to enhance support for students and staff.
- Foster open communication, teamwork, and a positive outlook towards program objectives.
- Implement and advocate for positive behavior strategies.
- Ensure a secure learning atmosphere through vigilant supervision of assigned students across various educational settings.
- Apply MindSet de-escalation and restraint techniques as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
A High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
Possession of a current Registered Behavior Technician certification or the ability to obtain it within one semester of employment is required.
Prior experience in relevant fields is advantageous.
Physical Demands
This position requires the ability to respond swiftly to active and potentially aggressive youth, ranging from ages 5 to 22. Physical responses may involve evasion and/or executing approved holds and restraints to ensure the safety of both students and staff. These tasks may necessitate running, using arms for deflection or restraint, and maintaining physical control for extended periods.
Typical job functions may include significant lifting (up to 50 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, as well as frequent bending, kneeling, and crouching.
Licenses and Certifications
All relevant licenses and certifications must be maintained.
Background Checks
Criminal Background Check is required.
Employment Status
