The Systems Engineering Division (SED) boasts extensive expertise in systems engineering, serving the U.S. government alongside various public and private entities, educational institutions, nonprofit organizations, and commercial enterprises involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris management, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED leverages a wide spectrum of engineering and business disciplines to address a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.
The Systems Performance, Estimation, and Algorithms Department (SPEAD) specializes in concept development, systems engineering, architecture analysis, and algorithm development, providing evaluation support for national security space clients with a focus on Radar, Electro-Optical (EO), and Infrared (IR) sensors, missile warning/missile tracking/missile defense (MW/MT/MD) missions, Electronic Warfare (EW), space domain awareness (SDA), and space protection and security.
Position Overview: The Space Systems Analyst (Senior Member of Technical Staff - Modeling & Simulation and Signal & Image Process Engineering) will deliver analytical support, algorithm development, systems engineering, and modeling and simulation analysis for space surveillance systems, space protection, and threat vulnerability assessments. The selected candidate will collaborate directly with government clients and Aerospace program office personnel.
Work Model: This role requires a full-time on-site presence.
Qualifications for Success:
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the development, modeling, simulation, analysis, and evaluation of MW/MT space systems.
- Proficiency in systems engineering analysis of space surveillance systems, including system-of-systems architectures, system and sensor level evaluation, and mission performance assessment.
- Experience in developing computer tools and simulations to support interdisciplinary analyses and systems engineering trade assessments.
- A background in statistics, estimation, controls, signal processing, or a related discipline, with experience in developing and implementing tracking algorithms.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as C++, Python, C, Java, or MATLAB.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work independently while effectively engaging with high-level personnel.
- A Secret security clearance issued by the U.S. government is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- An advanced technical degree in mathematics, electrical or aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, or a related field.
- Experience in developing, analyzing, and evaluating mission processing and/or evaluation algorithms, including target detection and multi-target tracking.
- Familiarity with EO/IR system design trade studies and requirements definition.
- Experience in assessing EO/IR algorithm and system functionality.
- A current TS/SCI clearance is advantageous.
