We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medical Assistant to join our team at Optima Dermatology. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our medical team in delivering high-quality services.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Procedure Preparation: Prepare exam rooms for patient use by cleaning and stocking supplies, and preparing procedure trays as needed.
- Patient Care: Escort patients to exam rooms, take vital signs, and record reason for visit, current medications, and temperature as necessary.
- Assisting Physicians: Assist physicians and other providers with patient procedures, such as suture removal, wart and mole removal, and minor surgeries.
- Specimen Preparation: Prepare specimens for analysis by packaging and completing requisition forms, and contacting testing facilities as necessary.
- Scheduling and Referrals: Schedule on-site and off-site diagnostic tests and procedures, and facilitate referrals to other physicians by phoning their offices and making appointments.
- Communication: Communicate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to relay test results, authorize prescriptions, and provide patient care instructions.
- Inventory and Supply Management: Take manual inventory of drugs, check expiration dates, and order replenishments as needed.
- Sanitation and Safety: Disinfect exam rooms and lab, and straighten reception area daily, maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients and staff.
- Education and Experience: Licensed medical assistant or further nursing degree, with a minimum of five years of previous experience in dermatology medical office.
- Skills and Knowledge: Demonstrated ability in taking patient vitals, injection/immunization procedures, charting and documentation, exam room preparation, infectious waste handling, sterile techniques, and routine lab procedures and collection.
- Communication and Teamwork: Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with peers in a team situation.
