Job Summary:

The Floral Designer will be responsible for modeling and promoting Sendik's culture by consistently providing exceptional customer service to our guests. The main responsibility as a Floral Designer will be to design and create arrangements for customer orders, as well as the sales floor.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve Customers: Serve customers in the Home Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing exceptional customer service, which includes greeting, engaging, delighting, and thanking every guest for their business.
  • Provide Customer Service: Provide consistent, timely, and friendly customer service when answering questions, making suggestions, and resolving complaints.
  • Oversee Special Events: Oversee special event orders (i.e., parties, weddings, etc.); including designing and creating arrangements.
  • Maintain Department Conditions: Maintain department conditions, ensuring coolers and island are stocked, floral is rotated, and the department is clean and well organized.
  • Create Displays: Create attractive Home Department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the week.
  • Participate in Training: Participate in additional training and leadership activities as directed.
  • Assist with Promotional Sales: Assist with store promotional sales events as needed.
  • Train and Mentor: Assist with the training and mentoring of new associates in the Home Department.
  • Maintain a Clean and Safe Work Environment: Maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Age Requirement: Must be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of Home equipment.
  • Experience: Prior experience with plant care and floral design experience is required.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities, and circumstances.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Decision-Making: Ability to make independent decisions regarding department needs and priorities.
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills, working knowledge in Microsoft Office product suite and Google Docs.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
  • Customer Service: Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Schedule Flexibility: Ability to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of time. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
