Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team at the Urgent Crisis Center. The successful candidate will provide safety, physical, and mental/behavioral health assessments, first aid, and medication administration to youth in our program. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity, efficient care, and effective discharge planning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct nursing assessments, interventions, and treatments effectively and efficiently.
  • Monitor signs and symptoms for physical and mental health stabilization.
  • Conduct nursing intakes and discharges.
  • Collaborate with team on disposition planning.
  • Active participation in rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Ensure all DCF, DPH, and/or Joint Commission requirements and documentation are completed.
  • Monitor medications for efficacy and adverse effects.
  • Develop appropriate nursing care plans and interventions as needed.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists in coordination of the physical, mental, and behavioral health care of clients throughout their treatment course.
  • Provide cross coverage in nursing department as needed.
  • Provide education and teaching to clients and families regarding health and safety.
  • Collaboration with identified medical providers on medical needs.
  • Other duties and responsibility within nursing scope of practice can be assigned supervisor.
Administrative
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers within the agency and community.
  • Work closely with the care team to ensure the plan of care is executed and addressing any barriers to completion along with assisting in identifying solutions.
  • Serve as a resource to care teams to identify goals for patients and to help with strategies to achieve these goals.
  • Ensure documentation is in compliance.
  • Direct oversight of the Youth Care Assistants.
  • Oversight of medication cart and emergency medication supplies.
Nursing Leadership/Training
  • Provide in-service education to staff.
Experience and Skills

We are seeking a candidate with a strong background in nursing care of children and adolescent psychiatric populations. A preferred candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in nursing and experience in behavioral health. The ideal candidate will be organized, able to work independently, and flexible with the ability to multi-task. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications is required, as well as cultural competency to serve a diverse client population.
