Job Summary

Pasta Montana is seeking a skilled Packaging Assistant to join our team. As a Packaging Assistant, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful completion of the packaging portion of the production schedule.

Key Responsibilities
  • Package product following all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Fulfill packaging schedule in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Maintain an accurate pack count in every case.
  • Ensure that cases are properly taped.
  • Maintain good housekeeping principles at all times and maintain an organized and neat work area.
  • Operate equipment safely and effectively.
  • Communicate effectively with all departments.
  • Ensure proper pallet configurations and layer count per finished product specifications.
  • Strive to minimize pasta waste and prevent product from hitting the floor.
  • Ensure that bag and case codes are correct.
  • Insure that packaging materials are kept clean.
  • Communicate effectively with the Line Driver that packaging materials are readily available for use.
  • Ability to learn and run equipment in absence of Packaging Operator (PO).
  • Notes problems with finished product and informs PO, Floater and/or Lead.
  • When Line is stopped, work area/Line is to be swept, cleaned, vacuumed, and organized.
  • At the end of shift, ensure that the work area is clean and ready for the next shift to start.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Packaging Operator, Floater, Lead and/or Packaging Manager.
Requirements
  • Minimum Education: Attended high school or equivalent.
  • Minimum Experience: Some prior plant or commercial experience.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of packaging principles, processes and good manufacturing practices is helpful. Understanding of personnel and safety standards. Able to identify quality deficiencies and assist to correct them. Able to function as a motivated team member in a highly dynamic environment. Able to work and communicate effectively in a team setting. Able to learn, troubleshoot and multi-task.
  • Other Qualifications: Ability to use computer automated systems and software.
