Job Title: Assistant General Counsel

The City of New York Department of Transportation (DOT) is seeking a highly organized and experienced attorney to join its team as an Assistant General Counsel. The successful candidate will have a strong background in contract law and litigation, with a proven track record of providing legal support to complex projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice and support to DOT management teams on a range of matters, including contract administration, litigation, and land use.
  • Review and draft legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and permits.
  • Represent the agency in contract claims and disputes, working closely with the City's Corporation Counsel.
  • Collaborate with DOT staff to design and implement effective legal strategies to support the agency's goals and objectives.
Requirements:
  • Admission to the New York State Bar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with DOT staff and external stakeholders.
