Recreation Therapist

California Correctional Health Care Services is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Therapist to join our team in a correctional facility setting. As a Recreation Therapist, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing, and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs for patients within our institutions.

• Develop and implement therapeutic recreation programs for patients, including individual and group recreation therapy sessions.
• Monitor and document treatment progress, and work with other healthcare providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate therapeutic recreational activities into treatment plans.
• Maintain order and supervise the conduct of patients to protect and maintain the safety of persons and property.
• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care and treatment of patients.

• Equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy, including supervised field work.
• Current certification or eligibility for certification as a recreation therapist by the California Board of Recreation and Park Certification (CBRPC) or the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification, Inc (NCTRC).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced correctional facility environment and maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
