Key Responsibilities:

  • Restaurant Environment:
    • Ensure prompt, friendly service according to company guidelines.
    • Ensure the immediate response and correction of all verbal guest complaints by self and staff.
    • Ensure guest contact through 100% table visits.
    • Teach and enforce alcohol awareness.
    • Maintain adequate inventory levels.
    • Ensure product preparation and presentation uncompromisingly meeting company standards.
    • Actively participate in the community to increase sales and enhance the awareness of Applebee's.
    • Implement and execute all incentive contests and educate associates on promotions and new menu offerings.
    • Effectively oversee/schedule associates to meet sales demands.
    • Maintain effective safety and security programs according to company policy and government standards.
    • Promote and manage restaurant organization, cleanliness and sanitation.
    • Institute preventative maintenance of all equipment and building.
    • Immediately correct needed repairs.
    • Advise DO of any non-routine situations.
    • Communicate with other managers daily through management log and shift change meetings.
  • Associate Performance:
    • Ensure quality recruitment and referrals of potential management candidates.
    • Adhere to and promote Applebee's training procedures of new managers.
    • Maintain a trained staff through effective use of employment orientation, individual training sessions, associate meetings and implementation of company policy.
    • Develop an environment of constant development of managers, including monthly reviews as well as written evaluations every six months to update the managers KPI objectives.
    • Assess the effectiveness of associates, provide candid, fair feedback on a regular basis, and continuously work with associates on their areas of development.
    • Ensure correct staffing levels, utilizing Human Resources' guidelines for proper selection of associates.
    • Conduct thorough Applebee's approved interviews.
    • Select new associates based on competency identification, not need.
    • Demonstrate proper execution of training systems as outlined by the company while emphasizing the importance of training to management and associates.
    • Ensure acceptable associate performance and documents situations that require or could lead to disciplinary or corrective action; institute progressive discipline when appropriate.
    • Conduct weekly management meetings; conduct employee meetings quarterly.
    • Ensure compliance with company policies, practices and procedures; communicate all changes to all associates.
    • Ensure timely performance one on ones with all associates with written evaluations every six months.
  • Maintain Controls:
    • Ensure restaurants administrative and accounting duties are promptly and properly completed.
    • Maintain and control the assets of the company.
    • Assure the compliance with the local, state and federal laws, regulations and guidelines.
    • Ensure the restaurant is meeting or exceeding operating budgets.
    • Manage all service contracts to ensure that routine and preventative maintenance occurs. Follow through on all work and billing.
    • Monitor and manage capital expenditures within the restaurant.
    • Analyze systems and procedures with the DO for continual improvement of earning goals.
    • Ensure all cash handling procedures are adhered to.
    • Perform and analyze weekly food and liquor inventories/costs.
    • Responsible for preparing/overseeing and submitting of accurate daily/weekly/monthly paperwork to the DO.
  • Development:
    • Complete all assignments and duties properly and on schedule.
    • Develop goals and action plans for personal/professional growth.
    • Serve as a role model for managers and associates.
    • Be a subject matter expert on all store related technology.

    • Professionalism is demonstrated by appearance, language and conduct.
