About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in the Central Civil Works Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the structural design of new and rehabilitated flood risk management systems, locks, and dams, floodwalls, navigation floodgates, stormwater pumping stations, outfalls, spillways, and ecosystem restoration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of structural analyses, plans, specifications, cost estimates, technical reports, and other project documents.
  • Collaborate with clients and AECOM counterparts to ensure stakeholder buy-in to solutions.
  • Oversee and review work produced by others, ensuring timely and accurate results.
  • Seek opportunities to innovate and trial new methods.
  • Mentor and delegate tasks to team members.
  • Work closely with the multi-discipline project team, including civil, geotechnical, H&H engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, surveyors, and consultants.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related engineering field, plus 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer license in one state in the US, with ability to obtain licenses in other states via reciprocity.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
Preferred Experience
  • Masters in Structural Engineering.
  • Professional Structural Engineer license in one state in the US.
  • At least 12 years of experience as a Structural Engineer, with a focus on design of flood risk management projects.
  • Expertise in structural design and construction requirements for flood risk management projects, including dams, locks, floodwalls, stormwater pump stations, navigation floodgates, etc.
  • Expertise in software such as SAP2000, Excel, CPGA, and GROUP.
  • Experience working on federal projects for agencies like USACE, USIBWC, FEMA, NRCS, etc.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley OpenRoads and AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Flood Risk Management design and construction projects specifically for USACE.
  • Working knowledge of federal flood control design guidelines, including USACE Engineering Manuals and FEMA's 44 CFR Section 65.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients.
  • Experience in alternative delivery projects, not necessarily in flood risk management.
