Responsibilities

In collaboration with the physician/medical director, the Nurse Practitioner assumes clinical responsibility for tasks performed within their scope of practice, including taking patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, establishing diagnoses, and providing care and management for common illnesses and disease prevention in pediatric and adult patients. The NP may assist in the admission, transfer, or discharge of patients from the healthcare system, makes appropriate referrals to specialists and community agencies, and participates in quality assurance and quality improvement programs.

  • Provides assessment and follows established medical standards, procedures, and practices to develop a treatment plan for the patient.
  • Provides preventative health care services to long-term patients, orders appropriate medications and treatments.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic services.
  • Evaluates outcomes of direct patient care and consults with other specialists as required.
  • Acts as a consultant for various patient referrals.
  • Provides referral to appropriate community agencies for support, services, and information.
  • Actively participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Provides education to patients, families, community, and colleagues using various teaching strategies.
  • Utilizes special educational methods that are age-appropriate.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

Master's Degree in nursing. Graduate of an accredited program for nurse practitioners.

Three years of clinical experience in healthcare.

AZ RN license or RN License from a Compact State.

Registered in AZ as a Nurse Practitioner. Hold and maintain national certification in NP area, under AZ regulations.

Pay Range
$75.14/hour
