About the Role

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled Rail Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our transportation design group, you will play a critical role in supporting the development of track and civil design plans, specifications, and cost estimates for various rail projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: Manage scope, budget, and schedule for rail projects, including development of design criteria, project guides, and project controls.
  • Design and Engineering: Prepare detailed engineering designs for rail projects, including geometrics, drainage, and utilities tasks.
  • Team Leadership: Direct and mentor staff, and assist lead engineers on larger projects as part of a multi-disciplinary/multi-office team.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Provide technical support to clients and stakeholders, including site visits, field assessments, and construction inspection.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in transportation design, with a focus on rail projects.
  • Skills: Proficiency in MicroStation, InRoads, and/or InRail, as well as excellent oral and written communication and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Transportation Design Experience: 2+ years of experience in transportation design, with a focus on rail projects.
  • Bentley Software: Experience with Bentley OpenRoads (and/or OpenRail) Designer.
  • Railroad and Transit Experience: Experience working with railroad and/or transit clients.
