Job Summary

As a valued member of the Frederick Health team, we are seeking a skilled and compassionate Emergency Department Technician to join our dynamic team. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care, performing skills in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain and record patient vital signs and weight
  • Assist patients with disrobing, ensuring their privacy and care of personal possessions
  • Initiate cardiac monitoring and perform 12 Lead EKGs as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, insert and/or discontinue intravenous catheters, and obtain venous blood specimens
  • Apply orthopedic splints, including OCL cast application, crutch fitting, and teaching
  • Perform point of care testing and blood glucose monitoring as directed
  • Assist in morgue care, transferring patients to diagnostic areas, and preparing patients for discharge or transfer
  • Prepare patient areas for incoming patients and perform equipment checklists as assigned
Requirements
  • Current certification in BLS
  • CNA Certification from the Maryland Board of Nursing (preferred)
  • Completion of skill competency checklists and departmental competencies within one year of hire
