Position Overview:
As a UAS Flight Test Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the Test Program for an innovative Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) product.

Key Responsibilities:
In this position, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive UAS flight tests and document the results.
  • Lead the development and execution of UAS test programs.
  • Design and author detailed test procedures.
  • Ensure the safe operation of UAS during testing.
  • Collaborate with various engineering disciplines to address design issues.
  • Participate in the design, development, and testing of prototype UAS systems, including both hardware and software components.
  • Develop test protocols to validate and verify the functionality and performance of UAS systems and subsystems.
  • Execute validation and verification tests, analyze outcomes, and generate reports to demonstrate compliance with project objectives.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • A solid understanding of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Advanced knowledge of requirements management, system design, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, conducting, and documenting Verification and Validation (V&V) activities.
  • Familiarity with Unmanned Systems test programs.
  • Experience in creating and executing flight test plans.
  • Proficiency in Unmanned Systems Flight operations.
  • Flexibility in scheduling and willingness to travel.
  • Strong leadership capabilities and an independent work ethic.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Qualifications:
While not mandatory, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Knowledge of UAS operations within the National Airspace and relevant regulations.
  • Current FAA 107 RPIC certification.
  • Private Pilot license with FAA Class 3 medical certification.
  • Experience as a UAS Flight Instructor (minimum of 3-5 years) providing training to flight test engineers and operators.
  • Prior experience in UAS flight testing, including hands-on operation of small to medium-sized UAS in manual mode.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in flight test operations, including pre-flight checks, data collection, and post-flight analysis.
