Job Summary

The Chief Engineer is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all hotel equipment and facilities, while supporting the company's goals of guest satisfaction, cost control, and profitability. This role involves overseeing and participating in the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure that all rooms and public spaces meet the company's standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of the engineering staff to ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop and implement maintenance schedules to prevent equipment failures and minimize downtime.
  • Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities and equipment to identify potential issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and maintain all hotel equipment, including HVAC systems, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Ensure that all hotel facilities and equipment are in compliance with local health and safety regulations.
  • Train and supervise the engineering staff to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
  • Develop and implement energy conservation programs to reduce the hotel's energy consumption and costs.
  • Manage and maintain all hotel records and reports related to maintenance and engineering activities.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments to ensure that all maintenance and engineering activities are coordinated and effective.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in hotel maintenance or a related field.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current certification as required by Federal, State, or Local governing agents pertaining to trade requirements.
  • Current certification and licensing to operate and repair hotel equipment as required by State, City, and Local legislation.
  • Valid driver's license for the applicable State.
  • Ability to convey information and ideas clearly.
  • Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Ability to handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust, or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data and basic arithmetic functions.
