Job Summary

Siena College is seeking a skilled Vehicle and Equipment Mechanic to join our team. As a key member of our facilities department, you will be responsible for performing specialized mechanical duties in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of functional parts of automobile equipment and machinery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on a fleet of approximately 50 automotive units, 20 construction equipment units, and 50 pieces of lawn and miscellaneous equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair complex issues with vehicles and equipment, including replacement of primary equipment components (engines, transmissions, etc.).
  • Assist the Facilities Manager and Lead Mechanic with daily management of the Vehicle Repair Shop, including fueling operations and NYS registrations.
  • Work independently and as part of a team to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of new technologies and techniques in the automotive field.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree preferred).
  • 3 or more years of relative experience in vehicle and equipment repair.
  • Considerable knowledge of vehicles and equipment, including computerized diagnostic testing equipment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license and insurability at the time of appointment.
