Job Summary

The Security Captain is responsible for overseeing all security operations and ensuring the successful development, management, and oversight of a viable security program. This includes personnel, material, training, and operational requirements for the Department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure strict compliance to appropriate orders and guidance pertaining to Security Officers.
  • Ensure proper accountability, maintenance, and repair of property and equipment assigned to security personnel.
  • Mentor and manage subordinate Security Lieutenants, Security Sergeants, and Security Officers.
  • Ensure all security personnel are properly trained and equipped to function in their assigned positions.
  • Prepare, complete, or revise Standard Operating Procedures, Emergency Action Plans, and Training Plans as necessary.
  • Complete all HR programs and ensure compliance standards are met.
  • Conduct all hiring operations, interviewing, and termination of employees.
  • Conduct site visits, meeting representations in place of the Chief of Security.
  • Perform a continual assessment of the security situation to ensure optimum utilization of security assets and maximum protection of company personnel and ammunition assets.
  • Ensure proper information exchange regarding threat situations or heightened security requirements occur during shift briefings.
  • Maintain records management system pertaining to security operations and personnel files.
  • Maintain daily communications with subordinate security lieutenants to track activities, identify problems and/or issues, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Provide briefings and presentations outlining capabilities in response to business opportunities when necessary, or required.
  • Provide briefings to the customer and act as the company security representative.
  • Maintain a viable key control program for all vehicles, supply and equipment storage, ammunition storage, and housing keys.
  • Ensure proper company and project vehicle operator policies are enforced.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • 6 to 8 years preferred prior supervision.
  • 6 to 8 years employment in a security-related department or law enforcement, public service, or military is preferred.
  • Ability to manage several tasks at once.
  • A thorough knowledge of accepted Security procedures and NV law.
  • Teaching and/or training background preferred.
  • Must possess good oral and written communication skills along with a good working knowledge of basic computer programs.
  • Must be able to complete the Security Academy Training.
  • Must be able to obtain a CCW (Carry Concealed Weapons) permit. Successful completion of a Firearms Qualification Course is required.
  • Must be able to obtain and possess a NV PILB Card, an Alcohol Awareness Card (AES), and have a current and valid Nevada Driver's License.
Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands
  • Must be able to work and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees, or cold as low as 10 degrees.
  • Must be able to physically restrain individuals when a condition of arrest exists.
  • Must be able to respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and be able to make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads, and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Must be able to push or pull up to 150 pounds.
  • Must be able to see and also remember the specific details of incidents and persons.
  • Must be able to give court testimony when necessary and write detailed reports.
  • The Security Officer must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights, and dust.
  • Must be able to work outside a normal schedule, as needs arise.
Pay

Starting at $27.00 an hour based on experience.
