Job Title: Elder Justice Advocate

About the Role

The Elder Justice Advocate will provide advocacy, support, and coordinated services to meet the needs of elder victims of abuse in our community-based program and shelter program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide shelter and community-based victim services to elder victims of abuse.
  • Assess an elder's need for shelter, admission eligibility, and work with the facility to transition the elder into shelter.
  • Develop and implement a safety and care plan addressing basic, legal, health, and mental health needs.
  • Coordinate services and resources with state and community agencies to meet the elder's needs.
  • Convene Community Resource Teams as needed to address the care, services, and safety planning for elder victims.
  • Accompany law enforcement on safety check visits and accompany elder victims to the ER upon request.
  • Provide elder abuse education and safety planning for all elders.
  • Advocate for legal services and assist with issues of Temporary Protective Orders, Victim's Compensation, victim impact statements, and accompany elder victims through the court and prosecution process.
  • Provide follow-up services to elder victims once discharged from the program.
  • Maintain detailed case records and provide reports.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree, required.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Nursing, or related field preferred.
  • 1-2 years working with elders.
  • Prior case management experience preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license and a registered, insured vehicle.
