Our team is committed to preparing students for college and careers, and we are seeking a Substitute Children Center Aide to join our team.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in an organized setting and a minimum of one year of college-level work or a Child Development Associate Permit.

Responsibilities

Assist the teacher in the care, supervision, and learning activities of children in the classroom or other learning environment.

Provide quality child care and a safe and nurturing environment for children.

Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned.

Requirements

Graduation from high school and one year of experience working with individuals/students in an organized setting.

A minimum of one of the following: Associate's degree or Child Development Associate Permit through the CA Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Additional requirements include:

  • 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE)/Child Development (CD) units, including 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development, for Instructional Aides working in infant and/or toddler classrooms.
  • 6 ECE/CD units for Instructional Aides working in state-funded preschool classrooms or state-funded schoolage classrooms with 28 or less students.
  • 3 of the 6 units in School Age Education or Development for Instructional Aides working in state-funded school-age classrooms.
  • 12 ECE/CD units, including courses in Child Development, for Instructional Aides working in Head Start/Preschool classrooms.

Also, the following is required:

a. Instructional Aides, Child Development, who work in infant and/or toddler classrooms are required to have 12 Early Childhood Education (ECE)/Child Development (CD) units, including 3 units in Infant and Toddler Development.

b. Instructional Aides, Child Development, who work in state-funded preschool classrooms or state-funded schoolage classrooms with 28 or less students are required to have 6 ECE/CD units.

c. Instructional Aides, Child Development, who work in Head Start/Preschool classrooms are required to have 12 ECE/CD units, including courses in Child Development.

d. Instructional Aides, Child Development, who work in school-age classrooms that are not state-funded do not have additional requirements.

Also, the following is required:

Proof of immunizations for influenza, pertussis, and measles (Senate Bill 792: Day Care Facilities and Immunizations); employee entrance evaluation (lifting test) required.

Substitutes work on call as needed at various site and department locations.

This is a continuous posting for the 2024/2025 school year, which is scheduled to open on August 19, 2024.

Every few months, we will invite interested applicants for an interview.

We will screen periodically during the school year and will email qualified applicants at that time.

We are a Pre K-12th grade district.

TB Test (no more than 60 days old)

Measles, Influenza, Pertussis immunization required

NCLB Certificate or Official Transcripts showing 48 units of college
