Job Responsibilities

This role encompasses a range of cleaning, custodial, and maintenance tasks at the Recreation Center to ensure a clean, safe, and well-maintained environment. Key responsibilities include:
  • Performing general cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing various areas.
  • Conducting minor repairs and maintenance on equipment and facilities.
  • Setting up and dismantling event spaces as required.
  • Responding to service requests and performing additional related tasks as necessary.

Work Schedule
The schedule for this position will vary based on departmental needs, including:
  • Graham Arena: November 1 - March 1: Thursday - Monday: 3 PM - 11:30 PM
  • National Volleyball Center: October 1 - November 1 & March 1 - May 15: Thursday - Monday: 3 PM - 11:30 PM
  • Park Operations Center: May 15 - October 1: Thursday - Monday: 7 AM - 3:30 PM

Compensation
Starting salary is $25.28 per hour, with potential advancement to $32.72.

This position is affiliated with the International Union of Operating Engineers - Local 49, which includes contributions to the Local 49 Central Pension Fund in addition to the City's Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) pension.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

*General Custodial Duties:
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Monitor facility cleanliness during events and respond to custodial needs.
  • Restock supplies and manage inventory.

*Facility Maintenance:
  • Perform minor repairs, including painting and fixture replacements.
  • Ensure functionality of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems.

*Event Preparation:
  • Arrange furniture and equipment for various events.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of materials.

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent and two years of full-time experience in custodial or maintenance roles.

Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license.
Certification as an Ice Technician or willingness to obtain within three years of hire.

Desirable Qualifications:
Completion of a Building Utilities Maintenance program or similar vocational training.
Experience operating ice resurfacing machinery or maintaining swimming pools is a plus.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to perform heavy physical tasks, including lifting and moving objects. Exposure to various environmental conditions may occur.

Additional Information:
This position is subject to the City's Respiratory Protection Program, requiring the use of respiratory equipment as necessary.
