Understands the personal responsibility to safeguard public safety through compliance with infection prevention strategies.
Motivates the patient/family by teaching them what is needed to continue care/healing at home.
Assesses the patient/family learning styles and structures the sessions to maximize understanding.
Seeks 'teachable' moments during the care delivery process to emphasize pertinent information.
Asks questions to evaluate retention of key points in the self care process.
Provides tools and information to assist the patient's family after discharge.
Documents the education provided and the patient/family response to the education.
Systematically evaluates quality and effectiveness of Nursing Practice and uses the results of quality improvement activities to initiate changes in individual nursing practice and care delivery. Engages in self-evaluation of practice, identifying strengths and areas in which professional development would be beneficial.
Takes accountability to increase knowledge and enhance skill.
