Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Correctional Officer to join our team at the State of West Virginia. As a Correctional Officer, you will play a critical role in maintaining public safety and ensuring the smooth operation of our correctional facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Enforce rules and regulations to maintain order and discipline within the correctional facility
• Conduct searches and inspections to ensure the safety and security of the facility and its occupants
• Escort offenders to and from various facility areas, including court appearances and medical appointments
• Participate in staff meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on policies and procedures
• Maintain accurate records and reports, including incident reports and log entries
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure the effective operation of the facility

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Must be able to pass a medical examination and background check
• Must be able to work varying shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
• Must be able to lift and move heavy objects, as needed
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
