Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement Student Education Plans
    • Collaborate with parents, department team members, and other professionals to create individualized education plans that cater to the unique needs of each student.
  • Support Student Learning
    • Design and deliver instruction that parallels the general education curriculum, ensuring students with special needs have equal access to learning opportunities.
    • Provide individual and small group instruction to students with varying learning, mental, emotional, and physical disabilities.
  • Coordinate IEP Implementation
    • Work closely with general education staff to ensure seamless implementation of individualized education programs (IEPs).
  • Monitor Student Progress
    • Regularly assess student progress, participate in review and revision of IEPs, and maintain accurate student records.
  • Mentor and Support Teaching Assistants
    • Provide guidance and support to teaching assistants who work with students with disabilities.
  • Communicate with Parents and Colleagues
    • Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues through effective communication.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification
    • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university (preferred).
    • Valid state teaching certificate as required by state, contract, or district regulations.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of one year experience in a teaching environment (preferred).
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • State Teacher Certification (Type: Standard Elementary Teaching, Standard Secondary Teaching, or Standard Special Teaching preferred).
    • Endorsement: Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) preferred.
    • Compliance with all relevant professional standards of practice.
    • Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program (when applicable).
    • Current CPR (if applicable).
    • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray (if applicable).
    • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
    • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Successful completion of new hire training (as applicable to job site).
    • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
    • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language required.
    • Computer proficiency required.
    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
