POSITION: AUTOMATION & CONTROLS SPECIALIST (STARBASE INFRASTRUCTURE)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement new automation initiatives encompassing mechanical assembly, wiring, pneumatic routing, I/O checkouts, and production validation.
  • Draft, revise, and enhance electrical, pneumatic, and fluid schematics.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems, including HMIs and PLCs.
  • Design, construct, and troubleshoot innovative industrial electrical control panels.
  • Create, commission, and debug PLC and HMI software applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial automation and design, particularly in electrical, oil/gas, or utilities sectors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Certification from an occupational trade school in an electrical discipline.
  • Familiarity with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety Standard), NFPA 79, and UL508A standards.
  • Experience in PLC wiring and programming (e.g., Allen Bradley, Siemens, or SEL Rtac).
  • Knowledge of HMI, SCADA, IoT (MQTT, OPC-UA), and/or ignition systems with an emphasis on user-friendly navigation and industrial process oversight.
  • Proficiency in field bus networks, serial communication, and Ethernet communication.
  • Understanding of industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP, TCP/IP, Profinet, Goose, C synchrophasor, BACnet, and SNMP.
  • Experience with IEDs used for electrical protection and instrumentation.
  • Proficient in Python programming.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL).

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and navigate in confined spaces.
  • Capability to lift up to 25 lbs. without assistance.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as necessary.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Compensation range:

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 1: $28.00/hour

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 2: $32.00/hour

Automation & Controls Specialist/Level 3: $36.00/hour

Your specific level and base salary will be determined based on various factors including job-related knowledge, skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one component of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also qualify for long-term incentives, including company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the opportunity to purchase additional stock at a discount through an employee stock purchase plan. Additionally, you will accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays each year.
