Job Overview

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer I to join our team at KFI Engineers PC. As an Electrical Engineer I, you will play a key role in the successful execution of projects, providing technical and engineering excellence, and delivering high-quality work to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with senior electrical engineers to develop design skills and expertise.
  • Design medium voltage and 480-volt power systems, including generation and distribution.
  • Develop special systems, including ground fault, lightning protection, engine-generator, UPS, DC, motor control centers, and power factor correction.
  • Prepare engineering documents and equipment specifications to meet codes, standards, and contracted scope of work.
  • Perform power system studies, including arc fault hazard analysis, short circuit, load flow, protective device coordination, and harmonics studies.
  • Review and approve contractor submittals, conduct construction observation, and provide field support during startup and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment.
  • Develop labor/cost estimates for assigned scope of work and ensure adherence to scope and budget.
  • Create project plans and schedules for the execution of work.
  • Support the business development process through input to proposals, meetings, and interviews with prospective customers.
  • Provide technical and engineering support to other departments/disciplines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong electrical fundamentals knowledge or experience.
  • Project experience and/or working knowledge of Process, Instrumentation & Controls through co-ops or internships.
  • Willingness to develop in-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards (NEC, NFPA, NESC, ANSI/IEEE, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to assimilate a range of ideas, programs, or alternatives into a set of recommendations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to collaborate with others and enable effective interaction with Designers, Engineers, and Project Managers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, influencing skills, and has demonstrated the maturity and self-confidence to work with colleagues and customers.
  • Ability to establish rapport and credibility with customers and other stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Knowledge of computer technology and specific areas of application.
  • Proficient in use of MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Travel: May include up to 25% domestic travel.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Willingness to pursue Professional Engineering (PE) certification.
Working Conditions
  • Some work locations will feature the tough terrain typical of construction sites or require lifting or moving field testing equipment.
