Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Buyer-in-Training to join our Merchandising team at CarMax. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for acquiring and managing our extensive used car inventory through the successful completion of customer appraisal assessments and auctions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and negotiate current market prices for used vehicles, understanding and assessing vehicle damage and subsequent costs involved.
  • Conduct vehicle appraisal offers, coordinate on-site Wholesale Auctions, and attend off-site auctions as assigned.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and work with other departments to create iconic customer experiences.
  • Support the execution and sustainment of new store procedures, processes, and technology platforms.
  • Utilize technology to effectively collaborate with team members at other locations.
Requirements
  • Ability to make independent judgments regarding important business decisions involving the purchase and pricing of CarMax's vehicle inventory.
  • Demonstrate successful communications skills with both internal and external customers.
  • Analyze market data and complete paperwork accurately while making quick, confident decisions.
  • Flexibility to work in an indoor/outdoor environment, ability to walk or stand for long periods of time, and be able to work in any inclement weather condition for several hours.
