Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Route Supervisor to oversee the solid waste collection operations in the City of Amarillo, Texas. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a team of employees, ensuring efficient and effective collection services, and maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and Manage a Team: Oversee a team of employees engaged in solid waste collection, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure they meet performance expectations.
  • Operational Management: Manage daily operations, including scheduling, assignments, and solid waste collection activities, using advanced software tools to optimize efficiency and productivity.
  • Customer Service: Ensure excellent customer service, responding to complaints, and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Reporting and Record-Keeping: Compile and submit daily reports, maintain accurate records, and track progress against performance metrics.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and repair of collection equipment, ensuring it is in good working condition and meets safety standards.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities to employees, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to perform their duties effectively.
  • Emergency Response: Be available to respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or equipment failures, and take necessary actions to resolve the issue.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of experience in personnel supervision, computer operation, data entry, bookkeeping, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: Two years of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a waste management or collection environment.
  • Skills: Proficient in the use of light, medium, and medium-large solid waste collection equipment and trucks; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make rational decisions.
  • Certifications: Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
Work Environment

The Route Supervisor will work in a dynamic environment, both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather conditions. The position requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
