Role Overview:

The Head of Software Quality Assurance and Test Automation plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of software verification and test automation for Allegion's critical digital offerings.

This leadership position oversees a team of Software Quality Assurance and Test Automation Engineers who contribute to our Global Software Solutions portfolio, which includes various innovative products.

The software quality assurance team engages throughout the entire product development lifecycle, from identifying user requirements and product use cases to designing robust testing strategies and developing test cases, while leading the Software Quality Assurance Organization in adopting industry best practices.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, develop, and enhance our core software quality assurance team responsible for ensuring the excellence of our software products.
  • Formulate and execute a comprehensive software testing strategy with an emphasis on enhancing test automation and establishing a clear roadmap for the organization.
  • Define and uphold software testing standards, processes, and best practices across the organization.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software development, product management, and quality assurance, to facilitate effective testing and the release of high-quality software.
  • Oversee the design and execution of test scripts and frameworks to validate software functionality, performance, and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities for test automation and promote the adoption of automation tools and frameworks to optimize the testing process.
  • Monitor, triage, and track software defects, ensuring timely resolution and fostering continuous improvement in defect prevention, particularly through automation.
  • Evaluate and implement suitable testing tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance the automation testing process.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in automation testing methodologies to drive innovation and improvement in testing practices.
  • Mentor and coach a team of software testing professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Establish and present regular reports and updates on testing progress, key metrics, and product quality to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Collaborate with external vendors, partners, and clients to ensure effective coordination and integration of software testing activities.
  • Drive test engineering efforts by providing technical expertise and process guidance.
  • Own the quality and reliability of our software products.
  • Work with senior engineering leadership to advocate and promote high-quality engineering practices within the team and across the organization.

Qualifications:
  • 17+ years of experience in software quality engineering.
  • 8+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
  • Proven track record of building and leading high-performing quality engineering teams.
  • Strong emphasis on automation throughout your career.
  • Experience managing quality engineers across multiple global teams.
  • Experience leading software verification leaders and managers.
  • Ability to engage with executive leadership and articulate engineering principles effectively.
  • Experience collaborating with offshore teams.
  • Focus on team development through a servant leadership approach.
  • Strong commitment to fostering employee engagement.
  • Proven ability to coach Quality Engineering Managers through challenging situations.
  • Experience with software, firmware, hardware, and project management.
  • Demonstrated adaptability to new technologies, processes, customer needs, and business requirements.
  • Ability to review automation code.
  • Understanding of Scaled Agile Frameworks (SAFe).
  • Experience coordinating meetings across multiple time zones.
  • Familiarity with Azure and AWS security protocols.
  • Experience delivering high-availability cloud software platforms and web/mobile applications.

Compensation:

The expected base salary range is $181,750 - $273,400, with actual compensation determined based on experience and other factors.
