Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist to join our team at Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group. This is an exciting opportunity for a professional with expertise in electroencephalography (EEG) and evoked potentials (EP) to work alongside our experienced healthcare providers.

About the Role
  • This position involves performing routine, ambulatory, and long-term monitoring EEGs, as well as visual, brainstem, and somatosensory EP procedures according to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to effectively interact with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals, and demonstrate a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care.
Responsibilities
  • Promote a positive work environment and contribute to a dynamic, team-focused work unit that actively helps one another to achieve optimal department results.
  • Communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and staff to convey the purpose of procedures and answer questions regarding them.
  • Perform patient assessment related to care, including electrode fixation product allergies, movement restrictions, and cognitive function; know and recognize drug and physiological status effects on activity monitored.
  • Stock supplies and prepare patient rooms and equipment for upcoming procedures, perform any other related duties consistent with patient and technical care for this level.
  • Maintain correct electrode connections, identify and perform basic and intermediate technical troubleshooting and artifact identification and elimination, follow concepts of digital equipment and electrical safety regarding the equipment.
  • Recognize when alternate montages, protocols, and/or equipment settings might be necessary and their effects on test data, take appropriate actions, and notify others as needed.
  • Perform EEG studies, including bedside studies, clinical EP studies, and monitoring of epilepsy patients.
  • Report 'near misses' and input errors promptly into documentation systems to improve processes and identify trends.
  • Ensure all equipment utilized has had quality control performed as required and is in safe working order prior to use, report any malfunctions to management, and regularly practice preventive maintenance procedures.
  • Contribute to identifying corrective actions and improvement activities and meeting departmental and hospital targets for quality and safety.
Requirements
  • A minimum of six months' experience in the performance of END procedures in a patient care environment or successful completion of all clinicals required by and through an approved Electroneurodiagnostic END program.
  • BLS certification (AHA).
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision once training complete.
  • Possess basic computer knowledge to operate necessary computer systems and software, including data entry, document printing, document scanning, and a basic understanding of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team and assure delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
  • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing English necessary to perform essential job functions, especially with regard to activities impacting patient or employee safety or security.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary range for this position is $ $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on factors such as relevant experience and qualifications.
