Job Summary:

The Surgical Care Professional will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care in the preoperative and post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) settings. This role requires a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse to ensure a smooth and safe transition for patients undergoing surgery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for surgery by reviewing their charts and health history, ensuring all necessary evaluations have been completed and consent forms are signed.
• Admit and prepare patients for surgery, providing ongoing information to patients and their caregivers to ensure they understand all procedures and feel comfortable.
• Perform nursing assessments, start IVs, and administer ordered medications as needed.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure continuity of care.
• Receive patients in the recovery room after surgery and continuously monitor their status, documenting any changes or concerns.
• Provide discharge instructions to patients and their caregivers, ensuring they understand their post-operative care and any necessary follow-up appointments.
• Document charges for all supplies used during the pre-op and recovery phases.

Requirements:

• 2+ years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a valid license in Virginia and active BLS certification.
• Proven experience working in a surgical environment, with a focus on preoperative and PACU care.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
