We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Ophthalmic Technician to join our team at Spectrum Vision Partners. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and supporting our ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Pre-Exam Patient Care: Gather and document patient information and history, conduct routine and ancillary patient testing, and prepare patients for exams.
- Testing and Recording: Test and record patients' far acuity, near acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, and color perception.
- Specimen Collection and Processing: Collect and process specimens for testing, and apply drops to anesthetize, dilate, or medicate eyes.
- Emergency Triage and Patient Flow: Triage emergency cases appropriately into physicians' schedules and maintain patient flow.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform first-level maintenance on ophthalmic equipment and notify the office manager of any equipment malfunctions.
- Infection Control and Confidentiality: Utilize infection control techniques and universal precautions, and maintain confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Patient Interaction: Be outgoing and enjoy interacting with patients on a daily basis.
- Problem-Solving: Be a dependable problem solver and able to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Collaborative Environment: Work well in a collaborative environment and have a positive, can-do attitude.
- Flexibility: Be flexible and able to adapt to changing situations.
- Ocular Pharmacology Knowledge: Have knowledge of ocular pharmacology, including anesthetics, steroids, antibiotics, mydriatics, and cycloplegics (a plus, but not required).
