Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at St. Joseph Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by analyzing and reporting test results in a timely and accurate manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform laboratory test procedures on patient specimens, adhering to standard operating procedures and regulatory guidelines.
  • Provide excellent patient care through clinical correlation of results, identification of patterns of bias, and rapid notification of critical values.
  • Ensure major automated equipment is operational by performing maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Perform required calibration and quality control procedures, and maintain records to ensure tests are performed within established parameters.
  • Participate in opportunities for continuing education and/or teaching to enhance technical skills.
  • Responsible for inventory of supplies, including ordering and placing received supplies into storage.
  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements and represent CommonSpirit Health with professionalism and HumanKindness.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate's Degree in a biological or chemical science as defined by CLIA.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

  • California: MLT:CA
  • Nevada: MLT:NV
  • North Dakota: MLT-L:ND
  • Tennessee: MLT-L:TN or MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification (per requirement sheet)
  • GA: MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification (per requirement sheet)

Preferred Certification:

  • MLT (ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training:

  • Must be appropriately trained in clinical laboratory science as judged by the Director of the Clinical Laboratory

Pay Range: $22.36/hour
