About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sushi Lead Cook to join our team at Wegmans Food Markets. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for leading and developing the skills of our prep and line cooks, ensuring the highest standards of quality and excellence in our sushi department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of culinary staff to achieve exceptional results and maintain high standards of quality and service.
  • Develop and implement effective training programs to enhance the skills and knowledge of our culinary team.
  • Collaborate with other department leaders to ensure seamless operations and achieve business objectives.
  • Monitor and control food costs, inventory, and labor to optimize profitability and efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations, maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of food preparation, presentation, and safety, with a focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of energy and enthusiasm.
