About the Role

This is a newly established position at Clearway Energy, Inc. that will oversee the management and verification function for claiming tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that Clearway meets the various requirements for the generation of investment tax credits (ITC) and production tax credits (PTC), including recordkeeping and data analysis/monitoring obligations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain an understanding of the IRA's key provisions, issued guidance, and emerging market interpretations, particularly concerning Domestic Content, Energy Community, Prevailing Wage & Apprenticeship, and Tax Credit Transferability Requirements.
  • Ensure necessary compliance with the IRA requirements during construction and post-completion periods, including documentation support and review processes.
  • Ensure that all project-related procurement and O&M documentation contains necessary compliance and recordkeeping provisions.
  • Assist the business with evaluating manufactured components for domestic sourcing in connection with seeking additional credits concerning domestic content.
  • Coordinate with various departments to identify, collect, verify, and review necessary information for tax credit compliance.
  • Monitor completeness of recordkeeping and identify potential non-compliance gaps, particularly concerning PWA requirements.
  • Coordinate with the tax compliance team on preparing necessary information for pre-registration and annual submissions for tax credit transfers.
  • Monitor process and reporting regime for relevant transactions and agreements.
  • Work with 3rd party providers to establish workflows for monitoring Prevailing Wage and Apprentice compliance.
  • Train internal and external workforce on IRA key provisions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
  • 5 years of experience with administrative and/or compliance matters, demonstrating a continued track record of advancement and growing responsibility.
  • Familiar and comfortable in navigating ambiguous situations to arrive at pragmatic solutions.
  • Strong understanding of financial, tax, and accounting concepts.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, particularly in conveying complex rules and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven skills in overseeing complex administrative and organizational business needs.
  • Experience with Davis Bacon Act compliance and construction-related activities.
  • Experience working in a financial institution, independent power producer, energy strategy, or similar enterprise.
