Whitten Regional Center is a residential facility of the South Carolina Department of Disabilities and Special Needs, located in Clinton, SC. The center serves residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities, providing a supportive environment for their growth and development.
Job ResponsibilitiesThe Registered Nurse will provide nursing care to individuals in designated units, maintaining their nursing needs and ensuring their health and well-being. In the absence of the Nurse Supervisor, the Registered Nurse will be responsible for managing acute medical issues and maintaining the nursing needs of the facility. The Registered Nurse will also manage medications and procedures according to pharmacy and nursing procedure guidelines.
The Registered Nurse will actively document and participate in the rehabilitation programs of individuals, functioning as the health care coordinator of assigned units. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for:
- Assessing the nursing needs of individuals and initiating nursing interventions according to licensing and certification requirements.
- Providing guidance and developing nursing staff to ensure quality care and treatment for all individuals.
- Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team on the integration of the nursing care plan in the Individual Support Plan (ISP).
- Performing clinical skills in a competent manner and ensuring a clean and safe environment.
- Providing training and acting as a resource for nursing staff.
The Registered Nurse will also participate in activities as assigned by the Nurse Supervisor.

The ideal candidate will have:
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State Board of Nursing for South Carolina
Preferred qualifications include knowledge of the techniques and practices of the nursing profession, medical and nursing terminology, and ability to adhere to standing orders, policies, and procedures.
