Job Overview

The role of a Cooper Marine Mate is crucial to the effective operation of our vessels. As a leader among the crew, you will oversee the organization and execution of various tasks on board.

Key Responsibilities:

Your duties will encompass a range of activities, including but not limited to:

  1. Overseeing and coordinating the crew's activities on the vessel.
  2. Inspecting towing apparatus and lifesaving gear, guiding the crew in repairing or replacing any faulty equipment.
  3. Directing crew members in the rigging of towlines to barges or ships designated for towing.
  4. Maintaining the accountability, welfare, and discipline of deckhands and their assigned equipment.
  5. Assisting in the onboarding, training, and leadership of newly assigned deckhands, while providing performance feedback to the Wheelhouse Manager.
  6. Ensuring timely submission and thorough review of all necessary reports, forms, and documents as required by management.
  7. Effectively coordinating with CM customers and contracted personnel to achieve operational goals.
  8. Executing additional tasks as assigned by the Wheelhouse Manager.
Qualifications:
  • Possession of a TWIC Card.
  • Able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
