Key Responsibilities
  • Directing, supervising, and coordinating the design of complex engineering projects.
  • Conducting interviews, selecting, training, monitoring, and evaluating departmental staff and consultants.
  • Planning, organizing, and directing the administration and management of contracts.
  • Overseeing and reviewing the preparation of complex construction contracts and documents.
  • Establishing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and administrative directives.
  • Managing projects and coordinating activities between units and other groups.
  • Consulting with technical staff, conducting meetings, and representing the City.
  • Writing, reviewing, and approving documents.
  • Supervising the review of shop drawings by contractors and field inspection staff.
Requirements
  • Seven (7) years verifiable professional engineering work experience, with four (4) years as a licensed professional engineer in the specialty.
  • Possession of a current Certificate of Registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of California with a License Type as Mechanical Engineering.
  • Additional special engineering licensing and/or work experience may be required for certain positions.
Working Conditions

Some positions may require specific lifting, climbing, working in high places and confined spaces, exposure to various weather conditions, and prolonged sitting, walking, and bending.

Selection Procedures

Candidates deemed qualified must complete a Minimum Qualification Supplemental Questionnaire with Training and Experience Evaluation. A confidential eligible list of applicant names will be created and used for certification purposes only.
