Job Overview

The County of Blair is seeking a dedicated full-time custodian for the second shift, operating from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Friday. This role primarily involves maintaining cleanliness and order in various county facilities.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Cleaning and sanitizing meeting rooms, offices, public spaces, and restrooms.
  • Managing waste disposal, including recyclables and trash.
  • Performing thorough dusting, mopping, and scrubbing of surfaces.
  • Vacuuming, shampooing, and maintaining floor surfaces through stripping, waxing, and buffing.
  • Washing ceilings, walls, and windows to uphold facility standards.
  • Replacing light bulbs and batteries as needed.
  • Ensuring supply levels in dispensers are maintained.
  • Setting up and dismantling meeting spaces.
  • Handling deliveries and sorting mail.
  • Conducting general maintenance and repairs.
  • Managing snow removal and ice treatment during winter months.
  • Responding to calls outside of regular hours.
Qualifications

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Availability for extended shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in custodial or janitorial services is preferred.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
  • Physical capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and remain active throughout the shift.
  • Successful completion of a post-offer drug screening and criminal background check.
  • A valid Pennsylvania driver's license is required.
Compensation and Benefits

The position offers a competitive benefits package that begins on the first of the month following 30 calendar days of employment. Benefits include:

  • 90% employer-paid PPO healthcare, including vision and prescription coverage.
  • Pension plan and public employer's equivalent of a 401(k).
  • Short-term disability and term life insurance.
  • A selection of voluntary benefits, including dental coverage.
  • 12 paid holidays annually and additional time-off provisions.

The starting wage for this position is $16.81 per hour for a 40-hour workweek, with opportunities for overtime. The hourly rate increases to $17.39 after one year of service. The County of Blair is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
