Job Title: Altec Welder

Altec Industries, Inc. is seeking a skilled Altec Welder to join our team. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for preparing, assembling, and installing vehicle and/or chipper components to required specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read and interpret schematics (blueprints) to determine sequence and methods of assembling components.
  • Read and interpret work orders to ensure accurate completion of tasks.
  • Use basic hand tools such as tape measurers and specialty equipment to perform tasks.
  • Learn and operate all equipment within the work area (cell) to ensure efficient production.
  • Perform rework as required to meet quality standards.
  • Support APS (Altec Production System) initiatives and participate in RCI events to improve production efficiency.
  • Willing to move to other work areas to support production needs and cross-train as required.
  • Maintain daily time records and complete any necessary documentation or paperwork.
  • Inspect assembly/components for conformance to specifications and perform testing as required.
  • Mastery of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and trouble-shooting skills to ensure efficient production.
  • Willingness and ability to train new/current associates to ensure knowledge transfer.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma/GED from an accredited institution is required.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend required.
  • Basic computer usage knowledge required.
  • Ability to read tape measures, blueprints, and schematics required.
  • Proficient knowledge of welding, mechanical, and manufacturing processes required.
  • AWS D.1.1 weld certification required.
  • Ability to obtain Forklift certificate if required.
  • Keep a clean work area (5S) and assist co-workers and group leads as needed.
  • Knowledge of Altec programs and/or systems required.
  • Shift work may be required.
