Position Overview:

Under the guidance of the Imaging Services Director and Chief of Diagnostic Imaging, the CT Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing radiographic diagnostic imaging procedures that aid healthcare professionals in identifying diseases and injuries. This role involves operating radiographic equipment to generate high-quality images of the human body while ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts both specialized and routine diagnostic radiology procedures.
  • Demonstrates professionalism and empathy by explaining procedures to patients, thereby alleviating their concerns and ensuring cooperation.
  • Prepares and positions patients appropriately for imaging procedures.
  • Utilizes immobilization devices to capture optimal images of the specified body areas as requested by physicians.
  • Assesses exposure factors based on patient metrics such as height and weight, and adjusts equipment accordingly.
  • Modifies equipment settings to achieve images with the necessary detail, density, and accuracy.
  • Operates mobile radiologic equipment in various settings, including operating rooms and emergency departments.
  • Assists radiologists and qualified physicians with fluoroscopic and specialized x-ray examinations.
  • Prepares images for review by radiologists or requesting physicians.
  • Processes images and ensures proper identification and quality control measures are in place.
  • Performs routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on radiologic equipment, coordinating major repairs as necessary.
  • Implements radiation safety protocols to minimize exposure to patients and staff. Maintains accurate records, logs, and reports of activities performed.
  • Provides orientation and training for new staff and students.
  • Fulfills additional responsibilities as needed in the absence of the Supervising Radiology Technologist.
  • Engages in other related duties as required.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include supervisory duties.

Qualifications:
Experience
  • At least two (2) years of experience in a Specialty CT or one year in a Specialty with an ARRT Certification in that area.
Education
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Fluoroscopy Certificate (California)
  • Certified Radiologic Technologist - Venipuncture Certificate (California)
  • Basic Life Support Certification
Additional Requirements:
  • ACLS certification may be required based on the position.
  • Capability to perform all general diagnostic and routine fluoroscopic tasks on patients of all ages as determined by the employer.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding instructions, correspondence, and memos.
  • Able to effectively communicate information to individuals and groups with varying levels of knowledge regarding Radiology services.
  • Willingness to work within a Labor Management Partnership environment.
  • Refer to Position Specifications as outlined in the relevant collective bargaining agreement.
  • Radiologic Technologist Career Ladder Agreement applies.
  • For promotions or transfers to a Specialty requiring Venipuncture, certification must be obtained prior to application.
  • The employer will facilitate educational opportunities for passing the California permit test upon request.
  • California Mammography Certificate may be required for certain positions.
