Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Technician to join our team at Cummins Inc. in Birmingham, AL. As a Diesel Technician, you will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and rebuilding engine products and other customer equipment in a service shop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete complex repairs, including identifying and preparing required parts and tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance based on assessment of engines, utilizing computers/software in diagnostic work.
  • Apply documented procedures and policies to complete repairs.
  • Complete required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims, and quality documents.
  • Ongoing training and additional certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
  • Adhere to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures, and legislation.
Requirements
  • Intermediate level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products.
  • Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred).
  • Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution.
  • Locally valid driving permit (Preferred).
  • A current valid license is required for this role.
  • Must be 18 years old with 2 years driving experience.
  • This role requires a 5-year motor vehicle report, free from major violations.

Base salary rate commensurate with experience. This position will require a completed DMV driving report but no Driver Qualification file. CANDIDATE MUST BE AT LEAST 18 YEARS OLD AND HAVE 2 YEARS DRIVING EXPERIENCE. This position will be part of the FTA pool.

This role is subject to Federal Transit Administration random and pre-employment drug testing requirements. This role will be subject to on-going random drug and alcohol testing.
