Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Pathologist to join our team at the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration. As a key member of our Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service, you will be responsible for providing expert diagnostic and consultative services in anatomic and clinical pathology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform surgical pathology, including gross review and dictation, selection and interpretation of routine and special stains, and correlation with patient history.
  • Conduct cytological pathology, including performance of adequacy exams and interpretation of cytology slides.
  • Participate in autopsy reviews, including prosection and request of special cultures or stains.
  • Provide educational presentations, including tumor board and morbidity and mortality conferences.
  • Supervise and oversee the daily medical operations of the Blood Bank, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
  • At least 2 years of experience following residency and fellowship training.
