Job Overview

As a Material Handler at Hexatronic Rochester Cable, Inc., you will play a critical role in supporting the production process by maintaining the flow of raw and finished materials. This involves safely loading, unloading, and moving materials within the production plant using a variety of powered industrial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure Safe Operations: Perform all tasks in a safe manner, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and following all safety regulations.
  • Material Movement: Unload and direct movement of shipments from shipping and receiving to storage or work areas.
  • Inventory Management: Verify and record incoming and outgoing shipments, and maintain accurate documentation of material transactions in the Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system.
  • Equipment Operation: Safely and efficiently operate powered industrial vehicles, such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Team Collaboration: Maintain a team attitude and team approach, and communicate effectively with coworkers on next shift priorities and open needs.
  • Problem-Solving: Exercise good judgment in handling expensive materials and equipment, and be able to read and understand customer orders and the materials needed to complete the order.
  • Productivity and Quality: Meet productivity standards and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail, and be able to multitask to manage multiple priorities.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform housekeeping duties required for a clean and safe work environment, and maintain equipment to ensure safe operation.
  • Training and Development: Train others as required, and be willing to learn and adapt to new processes and procedures.
Requirements
  • U.S. Person: Hexatronic Rochester Cable, Inc. is a federal contractor and is subject to the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or Export Administration Regulations (EAR), as such, applicants must be a U.S. person defined as a citizen, national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, person granted asylee status in the U.S., or person admitted into the U.S. as a refugee.
  • Education and Experience: Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent, and at least one year of related experience.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to do basic math calculations, basic problem-solving skills, ability to work safely in a fast-paced environment, and ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural documents.
  • Work Schedule: Ability to work shifts that rotate every two weeks between 8:00AM to 4:00PM and 4:00PM to 12:00AM, and ability to work overtime when needed.
  • Background Investigation: Must be willing to submit to a background investigation, and must be willing and able to pass a post-offer drug screen.

The performance of this position normally requires exposure to a typical manufacturing environment that requires the use of personal protective equipment including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and hearing protection. Manufacturing areas may be affected by outside temperatures and machining.

Must be able to: sit, kneel, crouch, stoop, stand, walk, climb ramps and/or stairs at various times throughout the day; drive powered industrial vehicles; read, work with a computer and keyboard; hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds (e.g., machinery, sirens, and alarms); speak to express or exchange ideas, impart oral information to include instructions; vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral and depth perception. Must be able to move 25 to 50 pounds and up to 200 pounds with assistance and tolerate working in hot or cold environments.
