Purpose and Scope

Memphis-Shelby County Schools seeks a highly skilled Speech Language Pathologist to provide prevention, assessment, and remediation services for students with communication disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communicative disorders and the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff.



Key Responsibilities
  • Assess students' communication skills to identify communication disorders and develop recommendations for treatment.
  • Collaborate with various groups and individuals to communicate information, resolve issues, and provide services in compliance with established guidelines.
  • Develop treatment plans, interventions, and educational materials to minimize the adverse impact of communication disorders.
  • Instruct assigned support staff on communicative disorders, assistive devices, and feeding techniques.
  • Interpret medical reports within the scope of Speech/Language Pathologist's experience and goals.
  • Maintain files and records to ensure the availability of information as required for reference and compliance.
  • Participate in meetings, workshops, and seminars to convey and gather information.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to students to minimize the adverse impact of speech and language disorders.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Communicative Disorders, Speech and Hearing Language Impaired, Speech Pathology, or a related degree. Master's degree in Communicative Disorders, Speech and Language Impaired, Speech Pathology, or any related degree in the field of speech & language preferred. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association.
