Electrical Engineer - Starlink Aviation

Join SpaceX's ambitious Starlink Aviation team as an Electrical Engineer and play a crucial role in developing mobility solutions for aircraft that connect to the Starlink constellation. As an electrical engineer, you will be responsible for integrating Starlink products in various airframes and mobile platforms, solving aviation-specific electrical issues, and working with design, test, and manufacturing teams to improve product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Design wiring diagrams, wire routing drawings, and load analysis for different aircraft types and model variations.
  • Find creative solutions to unique aircraft electrical problems that meet customer expectations and schedule.
  • Support certification efforts by documenting and presenting electrical design and analysis to designated authorities.
  • Supplement aircraft manuals to identify, install, and troubleshoot Starlink installation components.
  • Serve as front-line electrical engineering support for Starlink aviation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or aerospace engineering.
  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Experience designing electrical system architectures, harness design, and/or electrical wiring plans.
  • Experience with electrical schematics, wiring manuals, part specifications, and electrical standard practices.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in avionics, aircraft wiring, or aircraft electrical systems integration.
  • Proficiency in understanding detailed aircraft wiring manuals, schematics, load analysis, and operating manuals.
  • Hands-on experience with avionics integration on aircraft, including wiring installation, certification, electrical testing, and troubleshooting.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be willing to work long hours and weekends as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel internationally as needed.

Compensation and Benefits:

Pay range: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 (Development Test Engineer/Level I), $115,000.00 - $135,000.00 (Development Test Engineer/Level II). Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock, stock options, or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Exempt employees are eligible for 5 days of sick leave per year.
