Job Summary

Southland Holdings is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Carpenter to join our team as a Concrete Specialist in a Water Utility Project in Texas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set forms, tie rebar, pour, and finish concrete, using string lines for leveling and reading rebar and form drawings.
  • Build forms for box culverts, curbs, and roads.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Mark cutting lines on materials using a pencil and scriber.
  • Assemble and fasten materials together to construct wood or metal frameworks of structures.
  • Erect and wreck all forms.
  • Pour, grade, and finish concrete.
  • Shovel dirt, gravel, and asphalt, and perform general housekeeping.
  • Check and maintain grade stakes and other survey markings.
  • Maintain equipment and tools.
  • Enter confined spaces as required.
  • Measure materials or distances using squares, measuring tapes, or rules to lay out work.
  • Operate a man-lift.
  • Provide flagging and direction to crane operators.
  • Cut or saw boards, timbers, or plywood to required sizes using handsaws, power saws, or woodworking machines.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods while operating equipment or using tools.
  • Employee will bend, lift, climb, kneel, or squat while moving or lifting heavy materials, forms, or equipment.
  • Employee will be exposed to extreme temperatures and conditions such as dirt, dust, fumes, and noises while working on construction sites.
  • Employee may be exposed to mechanical, chemical, electrical, or fire hazards while performing welding or carpentry duties.
Requirements
  • 5 years of related experience.
  • Must work in all weather conditions, both extreme heat and cold.
  • Must be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing duties outlined above.
  • Ability to lift and carry, on a frequent basis, at least 50-90 pounds personally, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
Desired Qualifications
  • 5+ years of related experience.
  • OSHA safety training and a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
