Job Title: Nurse Practitioner

Arbuckle Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed Critical Access Hospital located in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Our hospital boasts a new facility, which includes a 24-hour emergency room staffed by ER physicians and designated as a Level IV Trauma Center.

The hospital serves over 12,000 patients annually, with over 7,000 emergencies each year, including heart attack and stroke patients. We have four admitting physicians, including three employed physicians and a contractor. Additionally, our hospital operates a full-service clinic on campus, which has 15 exam rooms, two physicians, and three nurse practitioners.

Job Summary:

An Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) will function independently with collaboration of a physician for prescriptive writing authority. The provider will function within the scope of practice of the Oklahoma Board of Nursing.

The provider will also respect the health, safety, welfare, and dignity of individuals of all ages with an ethical obligation to ensure each individual receives appropriate care.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Function within the scope of practice as designated by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing
  • Function within the scope of privileges as granted by the medical staff and governing body
  • Work closely with the healthcare team
  • Adhere to requirements set forth by the medical staff bylaws, rules, and regulations
  • Carry out delegated medical functions, including but not limited to triage, physical examinations, ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic tests, formulate a working diagnosis, and develop a treatment plan
  • Provide counseling and educating the patient, making referrals, consultations, and promoting health
  • Provide preventative services (Annual Wellness Exams and Immunizations)
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and uniformity of data
  • Maintain a positive and effective working relationship with the patient, patient's family, nursing, medical staff, and allied health staff
  • Implementation of and compliance with all safety policies and procedures
  • Prescribes according to the statutes regulated by the state board of nursing in conjunction with a physician who grants prescriptive writing authority
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • The ability to assess and evaluate patient needs
  • Demonstrate critical thinking skills
  • Demonstrate professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with the computer system
  • A willingness to provide care for all socioeconomic levels, races, and religions
  • The ability to work within the healthcare team as a productive team member
  • The willingness to lead the team
Work Environment:

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, ascend, and descend stairs; possess the ability to handle, finger, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms.

Frequently be able to lift 25 pounds from the floor to waist level and may occasionally be required to assist moving adult patients.
